Sunday Bible Hour

September to May, from 11:15 - 12:00pm

After church, everyone is invited to stay for an extra hour to dig deeper into the comforting truths we hear in worship so that we can all grow in our faith together.

For children 2-12 years old, we have 3 separate, age-appropriate Sunday School classrooms where they will spend time hearing Bible stories, singing, making crafts, and playing games. Our dedicated teachers foster a nurturing environment centered on the life-saving truth of the Gospel. Our goal is for your children to experience the peace of knowing that Jesus lived and died for them. Additionally, our teachers are committed to equipping parents with tools necessary to spiritually nurture their children at home.

For teens and adults, we offer a diverse range of biblical and topical studies designed to deepen our understanding of what the Bible says and what it means for our lives. Our Pastor draws out details and insights that bring aspects of the Bible into sharper focus. It’s a welcoming space where people of all backgrounds are encouraged to engage with God's Word and connect with one another.

Current Worship Series

When a wayward child wanders far from home, how does a loving parent pursue them without driving them further away? One thing that parent does is let the child know that there is an ongoing open-door policy. The child knows they will always be welcomed back home. Likewise, when we wander from God, he always keeps his door open for us. But God doesn’t just passively wait for us to return. He lovingly pursues sinners in ways that make them long for home.

In the Church Year, we have come to the season of Lent. The word Lent comes from an old English word for spring: “lengthen,” when the days grow longer. For over 1,400 years the Church has set aside the 40 days between Ash Wednesday and Easter as a time of repentance and renewal. In this 40-day journey to the cross and tomb, we will see the surprising strategies our heavenly Father uses for getting sinners back home, close to him and the loving care he offers.

Join us over the next 5 weeks for our Lent series: Open Door Policies.

March 9: One Stands; Everyone Else Sits

March 16: No Detours Allowed

Midweek Lenten Worship

“The Lord is not slow to do what he promised… Instead, he is patient for your sakes, not wanting anyone to perish, but all to come to repentance.” (2 Peter 3:9)

Martin Luther began his famous 95 Theses noting that Scripture’s call to repentance is intended as a way of life. Using David’s great penitential Psalm 51, penned following his affair with Bathsheba and the murder of Uriah, this series of Lenten reflections explores the depths of our sinful depravity, the brokenness of our relationship with God, our dire need for rescue, and the good news of forgiveness, cleansing, and rejoicing in our restored relationship with God and the promise of eternal life through Jesus our Saviour.

Join us at 7:00pm every Wednesday through April 9 for a new midweek Lent worship series called Reflections on Repentance.

Standing on the Rock; Sharing the Living Water

St. Peter’s Lutheran Church exists to help everyone stand more firmly on the Spiritual Rock, Jesus, so that we faithfully and energetically share his lifegiving water with the community and the world through our words and actions.

Nestled in historic Sturgeon Heights, St. Peter’s has been serving communities in Central Alberta for more than 50 years. Our namesake, the Apostle Peter, was one of Jesus’ disciples famous for being the first to confess that Jesus is the Saviour of the World. We share Peter’s confession and conviction and we want to share the wonderful news of Jesus with you too! The highlight of our ministry is weekly worship on Sundays at 10:00am. Schedule a visit with our pastor to learn more, or just stop on in!
